What to do if tracking sessions aren't appearing in your traffic analytics

Troubleshoot missing session data in HubSpot traffic analytics and ensure your tracking URLs are set up correctly.

First, check the following:

  • Sessions only show up if the tracking URL has been viewed at least once in the selected time frame. Adjust the time frame at the top of the Sources report.
  • Ensure the HubSpot tracking code is on the linked page. Tracking URLs won’t capture views on pages without the code, such as PDFs, images, or external websites.
  • Verify that the tracking URL has the correct parameters and is properly formatted.
  • If testing the URL, ensure you’re not accessing it from a filtered IP address.

Note: If sessions appear but not in the expected category, review how HubSpot categorises sessions based on tracking parameters.

For HubSpot tracking URLs in Google Ads:

  • Use the full tracking URL, not the shortened version. Google Ads now requires upgraded URLs.
  • Place the full tracking URL in the Final destination field, not the Destination
  • The Final destination field must match the domain of the landing page URL. For example, if your landing page is http://offers.yoursite.com/demo, your Final destination must include com.
