A glossary if you are experiencing account and email provider issues

In HubSpot, when you attempt to enrol a contact in a sequence, you may encounter error messages informing you that the contact cannot be enrolled.

Here are some common reasons why a sequence may not be behaving as expected:

Meaning

Solution

Rate limit reached

HubSpot imposes send limits so you don't exceed your email provider's send limit.

Re-enroll the contact at the next step.

Send failure

A "Permanent fail" error occurred for the contact. This could be due to an issue with your internet connection or your email provider preventing the email from sending.

Check your internet connection
Re-enroll the contact at the current step
Reconnect your inbox if needed.

Inbox disconnected

HubSpot was unable to access your email account to send the sequence step because your inbox disconnected.

Check your inbox connection within HubSpot and your email client to ensure it's properly connected.

Gmail send error

The first step in the sequence was sent through Gmail and failed. HubSpot cannot determine the cause of the error.

Try re-enrolling the contact from Gmail after a few minutes.
If the issue persists, contact Google Support or use the CRM to enroll the contact.
